KarmaChameleon originally emerged from a discussion at a hackathon and is a side project that I developed during vacation together with my girlfriend.

Wofür das Ganze?

The idea behind it is simple: In everyday life, both in shared apartments and at the office, various people take care of keeping things running. Whether it’s cleaning up the kitchen or stepping in to organize a meeting because colleagues don’t have the headspace for it at the moment. But often these efforts go unnoticed and over time, people stop contributing because they feel they never receive any gratitude.

KarmaChameleon aims to provide an uncomplicated way to thank roommates and colleagues for their efforts and make the appreciation visible to everyone.

You open the app directly from the home screen, choose who you want to thank, and write what the thanks is for. Send. Done! Your thanks is shown in the public feed and you can see in your own profile who thanked you and for what.

We used it as an opportunity to walk through agile working and the MVP mindset with a concrete example. Starting with the feature conception, through translating them into user stories and product scoping, we jointly created the foundation of the project.

Afterwards, my girlfriend took over the wireframing and design of the app, while I dove into AWS and set up a project.
