The Tiny Disco Box is a reinterpretation of a project that I built together with Felix Schelhasse. Felix had turned an old wooden crate into a party box using an Arduino and a party light. I, in turn, breathed new life into a watch box.

The box is small and thanks to an old phone battery, extremely portable. Want to spice up your party with some lighting? No problem! Flip it open, switch it on, select one of the three light patterns, and off you go. The LEDs are bright enough to transform small rooms into the perfect party location, and the pattern speed is set to 120 BPM to match typical electronic music, so they blend right in with the tunes.

What I almost like even more than the box itself is the fact that I was able to make someone else really happy with it. Because Charlie Underwood, a content creator and maker with an obsession for tiny things, is now the proud owner of the box and features it from time to time in his stories and reels.

Technical Details

The heart of the box is an Arduino Nano combined with an 8x8 matrix of RGB LEDs, driven via the FastLED library. The box can run completely autonomously for several hours. The battery draws its power via USB-C.
